They had children: Mary Elizabeth (b 1853-1855); Clara Jane (b 1860); Josephina (b 1861); Paulina (b 1863); Ida Alice (b 1865); Heinrich David (b 1867); Leander Jacob (b 1869); John Alexander (b 1871); Emma (b 1873); Edward (b 1876). This family moved from Lee County, IL to Whiteside Co, IL. In 1880 the family removed to Ida County, Iowa where Jacob and Mary HARE are buried. Both my g grandmother Ida Petty and her brother Albert B Petty list in their marriage licenses parents John and Almira PETTY. I found marriage of John PETTY and Almira McMAINS in Vermilion Co IL, 1867 I seek confirmation in 1870 Vermilion County census that John and Almira's household included children Albert and Ida, or any other information which connects these people. Ida married in WI, 1885, while Albert married in Whiteside Co IL,1880. Ida gave surname in her 1885 marriage of BITTERSON, so she may have had previous marriage, though only born in 1864.

[1 July 1997] Has anyone come across any traces of Ellen (or Nellie) CARROLL or her family that may have been left in Sterling?
Ellen or Nellie Carroll and her children are supposed to have lived in Sterling, Illinois in the 1850-1870 time frame. Ellen was the widow of John Carroll and they had 7 children. Ellen's maiden name was Finan. The family came from County Roscommon, Ireland. They moved from Sterling to Vail, Iowa.

[17 July 1997] I'm seeking any any information on my Grandmother Eva May Williams, or her Family  She would have probably been born in Whiteside County on August 07,1906.I don't know who her parents were. She Married Jessie M. Crawford sometime around 1930-1932 and together they had 3 Boys; Kenneth b.1933,Edward R.b.1935,And Charles Ira b.1934. Her Death Certificate wasn't very helpful ,it listed her Parents as "Unknown" and her Birthplace as Illinois. my Father seems to think that She might have been born in the same County that he was. Delbert Richard McLindsay and Lutisha Elma Russel married about 1892. Their (probable) son and my grandfather, James David McLindsay was born September 23, 1906, died July 1985. A John Zentner, kicked in head by horse, dies abt 1870,supposedly in Davenport, IA. No records of that in Davenport ! I believe some Zentners lived in Champaign abt that time and may have been his kin-folk, who took care of him til the end, and may have been buried in Champaign or nearby. Any assistance would be appreciated. I will be in IL the end of Aug and could pass thru the village⁄town⁄city that may have Zentner descendants.

Ann's daughter, Catherine GORMAN married Timothy GUYNAN in Whiteside Co. in 1867. Owen MC CARTY, son of Ann and Charles, died in about 1867 in Whiteside Co. Seeking any information on the family and descendants of Gabriel DAVIS b. 2 Aug 1803 PA d. 26 Jan 1880 Sterling, IL.  He married Susanna Roland DILLER who was 80 years old and living in Sterling in 1903.  Their children were: William White DAVIS, Juliana Barton DAVIS, Gabriel DAVIS, Isaac Newton DAVIS, Henry Laurens DAVIS, Edward Diller DAVIS and Charles DAVIS.  The first named child wrote newspaper articles over the initials "WWD" and with his brothers was considered a leading businessman and merchant of Sterling.
